Chapter 39 - Paradise...
Birna, her brother Arni and I just came back from a trip up north – we spent the past few days up in Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays. All I can say is…. Wow!! That place really is paradise! We had such a fantastic time!
It was a very relaxing trip with a pinch of adventure and a spoonful of fun! We went sea kayaking…. We also went on a little road trip and walked along a deserted beach…. We also lounged around by the lagoon overlooking the bay whilst basking in the sun’s delight…
The highlight of the trip however was definitely going on a full day “Ocean Rafting” tour – this was absolutely awesome and a “must do” if you go there! We jetted through the Whitsunday islands… along our journey spotting sea turtles, jumping tuna fish and dolphins. We stopped at two amazing places where we snorkelled and saw some beautiful coral and fish (including a couple of huge fish more than a metre long!) Then the tour took us to Whitehaven Beach… a pristine beach on Whitsunday Island, which is the largest of the 74 islands in the Whitsundays. Whitehaven Beach features pure white silica sand fringed by brilliant blue water and it is consistently recognised in the top 10 beaches of the world. Absolutely amazing place! Then we walked to Hill Inlet lookout at the northern end of Whitehaven Beach – it overlooks a stunning inlet where the tide shifts the sand and water to create a beautiful fusion of colours. These places were like heaven on earth – so pure, beautiful and magical.
Of course whilst on holidays one must eat, drink and be merry!!
…We enjoyed some lovely nights… from beer and pizza whilst listening to live music… to having drinks and nibbles on the hotel balcony overlooking the beach as the sun was setting… and a Mexican feast washed down with delicious cocktails (midori splices… mmmmm!)
We all had such a great time! Check out more pics...
It’s been so nice spending such quality time with Birna too… We just really enjoy being with each other and we have so much fun together.

That really does look like paradise. I'm back in Iceland... it's raining. But I love it!
