Weekend Getaway

The weather has been really good here lately overall. Lots of sunshine and beautiful days! I have said “I´m hot” on at least two occasions… I have sun baked outside in my bikini and got a nice little suntan… and I have even driven with the windows down a few times too. So it´s all happening! The long days are awesome… 24 hours of sunshine, which is really great because you can fit so much into the day.

Birna and I just went away for the weekend – we stayed at Fljótshlið and took a day-trip out to Þórsmörk (an awesome little place between the mountains and glaciers – only accessible by 4WD).

We stayed one night in a cabin and the other night in a tent. It was a nice little trip away with Birna, her brother Viggo, his partner Kristbjörg, and their adorable little girl, Karitas Sól.

I´m still working on developing my "outdoorsy-ness." I´m the type of camper who brings her electric toothbrush and the one who asks if they have "tent service" (aka room service) where someone will bring fresh towels each day, turn down our sleeping bags and leave a little chocolate on the pillow.

Birna was very tolerant and laughed at me on many occasions. I got a little overwhelmed when we were packing for the trip - it looked like we were going away for three months with all the clothing / gear we were bringing. And when it started to rain, I preferred to wait for the rain to ease before going out into it, at which Birna would smile and ask "do you think you are going to melt in the rain?"
